Welcome to The Magnolia House Mansion Web
site!
The century-old magnolia trees that surround The Mansion lend their name to this eclectic, 2-story, 6,000 square foot historic home, located in beautiful Corsicana, Texas.
The mansion is just a short distance from the world-famous Collin Street Bakery®, the Palace Theater, and historic, downtown Corsicana.
The Mansion was originally built in 1883
by Ebenezer Wiley Johnson, a prominent citizen of Corsicana, in the Second Empire architectural style.
In 1922, it was
altered to a Classical Revival appearance by Johnson's daughter and son-in-law, Frances Lillian and William Perry McCammon, to accomodate the McCammon Funeral Home.
Today, The Mansion still exhibits a Victorian era design and
the structure is most notable for its giant doric columns and pediment features.
During the 1980's, the
home was purchased and restored back to a private residence.
From 1990 until 1999, the first floor was operated as a restaurant
with the upper floor being a private residence. Due to illness, the home was auctioned in June of 1999 and was purchased
by P.J. and J.D. Jones of Corsicana.
The Jones' immediately began restoration of the
mansion and it was reopened as The Magnolia House Mansion of Corsicana.
In 2007, the Mansion hosts a variety
of special events including weddings, rehearsal dinners, anniversaries, birthdays, business meetings, and luncheons.
We also do private catering for parties of 10 or more as well as operate a Bed & Breakfast in the Mansion.
There is a quaint wedding chapel on the property which serves as the backdrop for the garden weddings where the bride and her attendants walk
through the huge white archways surrounded by a variety of flowers.
There is a large wooden deck available for BBQ's and other outdoor functions.
The main ballroom has a seating capacity of 65 with additional space for 20 in the dining room. An antique upright piano is also available for our guest's enjoyment.
Have a Glorious Day!
Hope
to see y'all soon!
